Abstract
Based on the photochemical properties of photodynamic therapy, the light-induced
inactivation of pathogenic microbial was investigated. The photosensitizer with light
can trigger or catalyze to degrade the chemical molecules and to generate the
reactive oxygen species (ROS). The UV and blue light could make microbial inactivate,
but the short wavelength lights with higher energy may cause cells exposed to danger.
By appropriate photosensitizer, the irradiation of visible blue lights with longer
wavelength, that also product the inactivation of pathogenic microbial under the
specific conditions. The photodynamic therapy with blue light and photosensitizer
will be a simple and safe technique on biomedical fields.
