ENTERING THE UNIVERSITY
Admission from Secondary School

Applicants for admission to this University with domiciles in Taiwan are required to take the required achievement and study aptitude exams before applying to the unified tertiary students' apportionment held each year. Only those who meet the designated standards can be admitted to this University. To be qualified for participation in the examinations, student must (1) have completed six years of secondary school education, or (2) have passed an achievement test and hold a certificate indicating their education is equivalent to that of a high school graduate in scholastic standing.


Admission from other College /University--Transfer Students

Student who have completed at least one year of study at another college or university, or who have graduated from a junior college may apply for admission to the University as transfer students to study in courses related to their prior education. Admission is based on a competitive examination held each July on the University main campus.


Graduate Students

Admission to the graduate schools of this University toward earning a master's degree is based on a competitive examination. Only those who have already earned a bachelor's degree may apply.

Admission to the graduate schools of this University toward earning a Ph.D. degree is based on an oral examination and screening. Only those who have already earned a master's degree may apply.


International Students

Foreign nationals may apply to the university Registrar's Office for admission to a particular department or graduate school within the university. They may obtain the application forms from the Registrar's Office in advance, and their application documents must be sent to the university before April 30 of each year. Applicants must be graduates or students of accredited universities or colleges or senior high schools and have a good record of conduct. For mainstream programs, they must have a reasonable command of the Chinese language. For the International Honors Program, they must have a good command of the English language and an interest in learning Chinese. Their applications are evaluated by the department or graduate schools concerned, which makes an initial admissions decision. Final approval by the Ministry of Education is then required before the student may enroll in the university.

Overseas Chinese students interested in attending Ming Chuan University for undergraduate study should contact the Ministry of Education, Republic of China.


Adult Continuing Education Students
Applicants must bring proof of being currently employed, with at least one year's experience in a field related to the study they are applying for, having graduated from a public or private junior college program and, for men, having completed their military service. Those who qualify will be accordingly offered the opportunity to take a competitive exam for admission to the 3-year bachelor's degree completion program.


Non-degree Seeking Students

Students who have completed six years of secondary school education or have passed an achievement test and hold a certificate indicating their education is equivalent to that of a high school graduate in scholastic standing. 


Student Leave of Absence

Students may apply to the Dean of Academic Affairs for leaves of absence from the university. Leaves of absence are usually granted for a period of one semester or one academic year. In no case will a student be allowed to remain on leave of absence for more than two academic years. Students are not permitted to continue their program of study while on leave of absence. Once the leave of absence has expired, the student must apply to be reinstated.
