Ming Chuan University Procedures for Awarding Scholarships for International Students 

1. This scholarship program is promulgated in accordance with「Scholarships for International Students」regulations of the Ministry of Education (MOE), ROC.

2. Application qualifications
Full-time International students (including those currently on exchange and dual degree programs in sister schools abroad, not including extended study period student), who have enrolled at MCU and completed one-semester study, achieving both conduct and academic grades required below in the last semester, are eligible to apply for the International Student Scholarship stipulated hereinto.
a. Undergraduate: taking more than nine credits each semester, with average academic grades over 75 in the last semester.
b. Graduate: taking more than four credits each semester, with average academic grades over 80 in the last semester.
The conduct grades mentioned above refer to the level that the applicants must achieve, an average grade of over 84 with no records of demerits in the last semester.
The applicants, currently on exchange and dual degree programs in sister schools abroad and not able to produce the report of conduct grades, are required to submit two letters of recommendation in sealed envelops, signed across the flaps.
The applicants, who already have been awarded with a “Special Scholarship” from the MOE, governmental offices, or full scholarships from non-governmental organizations, can not apply for this Scholarship.

3. Scholarship Awards
a. The scholarship fund for International students each academic semester equals to half of the total budget amount of ”Scholarships for International Students” from the MOE per academic year.
b. The individual qualified applicants will be awarded per semester with the amount of adding up the following two items:
(1) Half of the total amount of the scholarship per semester will be equally divided by the number of qualified applicants and then awarded to the individual applicants.
(2) In order to encourage outstanding students, the other half of the total amount of the scholarship will be distributed by weights allocation, to qualified applicants based on the academic grades ranged from the highest to the lowest.
c. Regarding Article b. (2), the amount of scholarship awarded is based on the applicant's academic grades ranged from the highest to the lowest. In case of identical academic grade, the applicants will be prioritized by conduct grades and following that the number of credits earned.

4. Duration of the scholarship
(1) 2 nd Semester scholarships are dispersed January to June, and 1st semester scholarships from July to December.
(2) Awardees will cease to receive scholarships upon graduation from, suspension from, or dropping out of school. Should such situation occur, the IEE Division would select other candidates to fill in the vacancies according to the applicants’ academic grades.

5. Application deadline
Please submit all documents to the office of International Education and Exchange, within four weeks after the new semester starts.

6. Applicants must submit following documents to the office of International Education and Exchange:
a. Application form (download from the website)
b. Scholarships Term of Agreement (download from the website)
c. An original copy of the last semester’s transcript.
d. Recommendation Letter, written by school instructors.

7. Application Procedures
a. Applicants must apply according to the regulations.
b. Late submission, incomplete documents, or any violation of the regulations is not accepted. Application documents will not be returned.

8. Each scholarship recipient’s information will be reported to the MOE in June and December of each year.

9. The regulations have been approved by the Administrative Council and the President. Any amendments must be processed accordingly.

10. These regulations are effective beginning February 2007.
